Jack White, whose real name is John Anthony Gills, was born on July 9, 1975 in Detroit, Michigan. White’s first instrument was not a guitar. It was drums. When he was 15 years old, he had a next-door neighbor that is a drummer. Thus, Jack switched instruments and learned how to play guitar, so they could start a band.

Their bands name was The Upholsterers. They released one album during the years that the band was active. The band broke up in 1997 and Jack started his own band and called it ‘’The White Stripes’’. This was a duo band with his wife (At the time, not anymore) and Jack.

Their second album called ‘’De Stijl’’ was very successful and it made the band popular worldwide. Jack White earned two Grammys with ‘’The White Stripes’’ for Best Alternative Music Album (which was for Elephant) and Best Rock Song (for his biggest hit song called 7 Nation Army).

He also earned a Grammy as a producer in 2004 for Loretta Lynn’s Van Lear Rose, which won the Best Country Album.

Jack White plays the guitar with a unique sound. He ranked #70 in the “Best Guitar Players Of All Time’’ list which is made by Rolling Stones. He is also well known as using the whammy pedal very effective.

The guitar also has a two single coil pickup and Res-O-Glass fiberglass body.

1950 Era Kay Archtop

This guitar was also Jack White’s one of the main guitars during the ‘’The White Stripes’’ years. Guitar has a unique shape and a great neck. We can call this guitar a great vintage guitar.

Most of the guitar players, tune their guitars to E tuning. But Jack White has an open A tuning for this one. The reason doing this is playing the ‘’slide style’’ with a better result.

This guitar also has a single DeArmond pickup with on/off switch. The guitar’s bridge is also made of rosewood.

1970 Era Crestwood Astral II

This is another great guitar that Jack White played with. This guitar was also his one of the main guitars during the ‘’The White Stripes’’ years. He used this guitar while playing the songs like ‘’Let’s Build a Home’’ and ‘’I Fought Piranhas’’.

Comparing to his other main guitars that he played during the ‘’The White Stripes’’ years, this guitar is Japanese made. This guitar also has a tremolo bridge that helps Jack White to have some nice vibrato on the notes and also the chords.

The guitar has a plywood hollow body and it has two single-coil pickups. This guitar had some great results and some other companies tried to make the copy of this guitar.

1960s Harmony H73

This guitar is also used during the ‘’The White Stripes’’ era. It has a very similar looking to 1970s Crestwood Astral II guitar. Almost the same body. It has a tremolo bar too.

The biggest difference we can see is the tuning part has a different shape. This guitar has a similar one when we compare it to the other guitars. Guitar is also 6-string one and its also played by some other guitar players like Matt Baxter.

1963 Airline Res-O-Glass

That is another ‘’Airline’’ guitar that Jack White played. He played with this guitar before he switches to his well knows Airline that he played during his ‘’The White Stripes’’ years. This guitar is almost the same guitar with his well-known ‘’Airline’’. The main difference between two airline Stripes is the short scaled neck.

This one also has red and white colors on the body. It is a 6-string guitar and played with normal E tuning. Guitars head doesn’t have a unique design. All of the volume and tone pods are under the strings. This guitar fits Jack White’s musical ideas very well.

1957 Gretsch White Penguin

Jack White got this guitar in 2007. While recording ‘’The White Stripes’’ album called ‘’Icky Thumb’’ (the album that they released in 2007 and includes songs like ‘’Conquest’’ and ‘’Bone Broke’’). Jack was little bit not sure about switching to this guitar for the album. He had a discussion with his team and he decided to buy this guitar.

This guitar has an amazing white body. Which is supported with some golden things. It has an amazing look. Also on the guitars neck we can see that ‘’GRETSCH’’ that is write from up to down. It’s not something that we see on the other guitars.

Triple Jet ‘’Copper Guitar’’

This is another Gretsch guitar that is also made by the luthier ‘’Randy Parsons’’. It has an additional third pick up to a double jet. The biggest difference in this guitar is it has a Micro Amp (MXR) inside the guitar.

It helps to switch tones faster when you play a solo after or before the rhythm playing. You just need to click to the switch on the guitar with the help of this Micro Amp; it’s very easy to switch between the two different tones. You can have more power and also have a softer tone with this Micro Amp.

This guitar’s frets are also made of copper. It has a unique touch on the frets and also a unique sound. But because of the material, this type of guitars cant is playable after one or two shows. Through all this, this guitar is one of Jack White’s main guitars in the band called ‘’The Raconteurs’’
